This position is responsible for the delivery of fire protection services to the Township of Huron-Kinloss, specifically the Ripley Huron Fire Department and the Lucknow District Fire Department. To provide leadership and direction to the Fire Departments ensuring the development of personnel, establishing and implementing departmental planning. Responsible for making overall recommendations related to the administration, policy development, budgeting and the management and operation of programs with respect to life safety, including fire suppression, fire protection, fire prevention, fire investigation, emergency management, public education, and training. Acts as the Township’s alternate Community Emergency Management Coordinator.
A university degree or college diploma in administration/management
NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I-IV
NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector
NFPA 1033 Fire Investigator
NFPA 1035 Fire and Life Safety Educator
NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor I & II.
Excellent knowledge of the Fire Protection and Prevention Act and National Fire Protection Association codes
Possess knowledge and skills in the safe operation of all types of fire and emergency vehicles, equipment and safety and protective devices
Strong communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal, public relations/customer service skills required
